It seems like everyone wants to start an online business today. This makes perfect sense considering web based commerce is about the only area of the economy that is showing growth quarter to quarter consistently. The question to ask, then, is what type of site would make sense for a person looking for a Good Online Business Opportunity. The answer is really based in a truth that has operated in businesses since ancient times.
You are never going to make any money with an online, or offline for that matter, business if you don’t solve some sort of problem for your customers. The people must have a reason to visit your site and then do what ever you want them to do as part of your sales plan. It is not required that the visitor even understand they have a problem for you to be successful at solving it. Let me explain.

Why to people seek out entertainment: movies, music, TV, etc.? It is because they are looking for stimulation of some sort. Why? Because they are bored and will pay to experience something other than their daily existence. People who create movies, make music, produce TV shows and write books are all solving this same problem for their customers. People are willing to spend good money in order to deal with their boredom.
This is just one example of the many problems which can be solved for people and which can lead to a very lucrative business model. The key is to find something people want and then give it to them. More than one business guru has singled this out as the secret to success.
Gary Halbert, a famous copywriter, was asked what was the most important to having a successful restaurant. He answered, “A hungry crowd.” Find out some hunger to satiate and you can build a very impressive online presence. If you don’t feed a hunger you will never find success.

I might add that you don’t necessarily have to solve a customer’s problem – you may only need to intercept the buying decision for their problem. If, for example, a person is looking to buy a new outdoor grill – and ends up at your site where you explain the different types of grills, and offer reviews and recommendations – that will earn you affiliate income.

Thats exactly the point. There needs to be a demand for a service or a product. Then you can sell pretty much everything. If there isn’t a market for something, there are no sellers…so there is no opportunity for you as a seller.
Some good points and if you are starting up your own online venture then having a solution to a common problem should work well. I think the other thing to watch out for is there are many business opportunities online promising unrealistic returns for very little work and these are most likely not going to work. For there to be any real money made its going to take some hard work to achieve a result.
